Our playschool is on the grounds of Ketton Primary School. We have our own purpose-built building and garden in a quiet part of the site.
Outside, the Playschool offers a secure outdoor area covered in artificial safety grass with massive covered sand/mud pits, large wooden weighing scales, logs, a rope swing, rope ladder, a large swing seat, outdoor blackboards, water play area, a growing area, a pegging area, climbing frame, a castle, a playhouse and a beautiful tree providing plenty of natural shade. Extra toys are provided daily, such as scooters, sit and ride toys, wobble boards, water sprayers, foam and building resources. Whatever the weather, the outside is always open for free flow play with a member of staff.
Inside has the ‘WOW’ factor. Our 55 metre square room is bright and cheerful, with walls full of treasured pieces of children’s artwork. We have space for 24 children and a staff ratio of 1 : 4 for all children between 2 and 3 years old and 1 : 8 for all children over 3 years old. Other facilities include two low level toilets and wash basins, a disabled toilet, a kitchen, an office, a storeroom, an entrance/shoe area and a messy play area.
We also have times for exclusive use of the primary school’s hall, allowing further opportunities for extended and energetic play. Being located on the Primary School site means that we can share some of their facilities and work closely with staff, particularly the reception teachers. This ensures a smooth transition for playschool children going on to primary school.
There is a Christmas play performed in the Primary School hall, an Easter Bonnet Parade and Sports Day..all parents and friends are invited to watch.
